How to make a Paper Flower

Here's Kittenlova79 with something you can add to that dingy headband or wig. I'm gonna show you how to make a decorative flower in 2 styles.
Lily
  1. Fold a sheet of paper in half. I used newspaper like I normally do, but you can use whatever paper you like. Then cut half off the folded sheet, then cut the fold.
  2. You should end up with two seperate bits of paper. Colour one sheet one colour, and the other sheet another colour (I used yellow).
  3. Press the sheets so that the yellow sheet is facing you and the blue sheet is facing the other way. Roll it up, then twist the end. Pull out the yellow bit and tuck it under if it's showing under your 'outer sheet'.You should end up with a nice decorative lily to add to your headband, wig or Lord Nelson hat.

Rose Bouquet

1. Use the remains of your folded sheet (Recycle!) and cut the fold like you did with the lily.

2. Fold your sheets together in a horizontal direction. Then fold it vertically.

3. Roll it up and attach it together somehow.

4. Fold out the 'petals'. If you didn't get anything to fold when you made it, cut tassels and fold them out.

5. Add colour. If you're using white paper, you can leave it as is, and if you're using newspaper (like I am) you can keep it as is to have an 'informative' rose bouquet.

TIP: If you want, you can wrap your bouquet with tissue paper and a ribbon to make the perfect finishing touch!

Paper Hairband

Here's how you make a Newspaper Hairband-

Probably the easiest hat I've ever made, and probably the one you can customise the most. It can also be worn in 2 ways. Talk about functionable!

All you need is one sheet of newspaper, scissors and an elastic band. Plus whatever you want to customize it.

  1. 1.Cut off a strip of newspaper from the end. Cut as shown on the picture (right)
  2. Rip two slits on each end.
  3. Snip an elastic band so it goes like a string. Thread it through the two slits. Make it so that you can loosen it and then wear it. But if it's too small, make it for a younger brother/sister/cousin.
  4. Customise! I doodled on mine with a highlighter. There are loads of ways to decorate your newspaper headband... glitter, wool, even pencil sharpenings!

You can wear it like a sweatband or scrunchie. It's up to you! Best not to wear as a scrunchie when pencil shavings are on it...

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog all about paper hats. And I mean that by cool paper hats, not that usual Naepoleon hat you find on the internet. Well, read on!
How To Make a Paper Wig
All you need is a page of a newspaper that's big enough to fit you or somebody else. It's simple, and you can do whatever you want with it.
  1. First, you make sure the sheet is big/small enough for you. If it's too big, rip a bit off. If it's too small, turn the paper to a horizontal level.
  2. When you've got the size right, rip two small holes on the top and put a few strands of hair through. These will keep the wig on your head, but if you want to have a bit of fun trying not to make it fall off that's fine.
  3. Here's where you can choose. You can build it up like a Georgian antionette wig, or even put it in a ponytail. It's your choice! I did a wig with ringlets.
  4. Add colour! I used highlighters to colour mine. Or you can even stick pictures or sprinkle glitter. It's your choice. Have fun!
